A.C. Ham and Art
She wanted to be an artist…
…then she realized she would have despised having to make art for her job! Although her dreams changed, she continued to make art.
From covers for her books and character doodles to abstract paintings and marker drawings, A.C. Ham has continued to make art that’s fun, lively, and honest.

Apple Barrel acrylic paint on canvas with a Modge Podge finish.
10” x 8” 2025
Over the course of three months, this piece came together.
The first step was cutting and applying pieces of colored paper to the canvas. These were not initially glued down. Instead, a thick layer of glue was put on top of them, securing them to the canvas.
After the top layer of glue dried, a process which took a little over a month, I got to work. Using a permanent marker, the doodles were applied to the upper layer of the piece. While many of these doodles represent symbols, objects, and letters, a good number of them are abstract shapes.
What do you see in the piece?
Objects include a vinyl record, a pair of scissors, a guitar, a bow, an umbrella, a roll of paper towels, and an open window.
