Character: Teenage boy with brown mousy hair and green eyes. Justin is a great friend and very loyal. He tends to take disloyalty personally and cannot stand people who don’t do what’s right.

Relations: Terrence Strikes (brother), Clarissa and Gerald Strikes (parents), Willene and Nathanial Willows (godparents), Rose and William Willows (godsiblings),  Martin Lains (maternal grandfather), Sara Strikes (paternal aunt), Thomas Strikes Jr. and Amara Strikes (cousins).

Special notes: Justin often has a cowlick in his hair. He enjoys video games and spends most of his time trying to find the villain “Blackglycerin.”

Justin noticed the flock of judges eyeing the student’s shields, looking to see if any of their shields had been compromised.

“Shawn!” Hazel called to a nearby volunteer. “Toss me another grenade!”

One of her friends, a tallish guy with shoulder-length hair, pulled a grenade out of his pocket and threw it toward her.

“Am I allowed to retaliate?” Justin wondered. “As long as it still hits my shield, it should count.”

Hazel placed the new grenade by the shell of the first one. Justin waited for two beats as she stepped away and gave him another excited smirk.

With a smirk of his own, Justin pushed his shield forward until the grenade was nestled between his shield and Hazel’s feet.

Hazel made to move away but hadn’t gone more than half a step before the grenade popped, coating her and the shield in neon yellow paint. Bursts of laughter came from the bleachers as people noticed what happened.
